Wonder if someone could give me a few pointers with using Autostitch

I'm trying to put 10 images together, and I think that the problem might be too many images that are quite similar.

In the settings I've got it to 1400x1400, although I get the same effect 3000x2000. Auto crop and Auto Straighten are on. Blending is Multi Band, Matching is 25%

Here's what I mean

TIA

It's a straight bridge!

If you want a picture of a straight bridge then stand a half a mile away from it then take a shot. Your camera and soft/hardware are giving you exactly what you/they saw.

BTW...it's a great image, just needs brightening up a bit smile

You'll never straighten it in autostitch due to the angles that the original photos were taken at. It's a similar perspective to what you would get using a fisheye lens.

Think about it - when looking to the left the bridge cuts a diagonal from top left to bottom right. When looking to the right, the reverse is true, and the bridge is seen running from bottom left to top right. If you try and straighten that with software, you'll end up screwing the perspective of the stuff in the background.

Gotcha

So...could I crop and zoom for the farthest reaches of the bigger picture to get it a bit more inline (Edit) then stitch it?

I think that looks pretty good, to be honest.

Nice pic thumbup

You seem to be unhappy about the perspective but theres not much you can do about that. FWIW I quite like that effect.

Just brighten it up a bit and it'll be perfick.

I suggest that you turn off 'Auto Crop' and you'll then see how the picture comes out. As said. It'll never be straight but it may help you see what is being done in the process.

Only one thing left to do with that...have it printed at least 4 feet long and hang it in the lounge biggrin

Great picture.

This would work better if you can post a higher res version... but the best way to view these type photos, is by pressing your nose right up to the screen.

Try it, its great. You can almost look around thee scene as if you were there.

Actually, save for the blurring which I might be able to sort, I prefer this one biggrin

But it's not a Worst Who's Been To NY Thread so I'll leave it, thanks for all your guidance smile

Im deffonatly going to have to have a got at this, ive got quite a few sets of shots that need sticking but have only ever done in manually, somtimes with only limited success!

How much work is there in one of those shots using autostich? How automatic really is it?

Pick the shots, wait a while. Then crop, adjust levels colour etc... as you require.

If you saw the originals of what I made those with you'd throw them away. Forgot I was in manual, so out of focus, just generally not good pics. Between Paintshop and Autostitch they've brought something half decent out of it. I had no real involvement other than being there and clicking away really

hehe This is what happens when you run Autostitch with a series of photos that covers a full 360°+ span and it tries to link things at both ends...

P.S. image is 1500px wide so worth clicking to open fullsize for effect wink
