I've just washed one of my SD cards!

I've just unloaded the washing machine and found an empty SD card case in the drum That's right it was in my shirt pocket after last weekends PistonHeads Show though i don't think i used the card inside. Luckily the card was caught in the clothes rather than going down the drain!

What is the recommended time before i dare try it again? It has a sliding lock on the side so may have moisture inside so i think a day or two in the airing cupboard is in order first.

On the plus side it smells nice

I would hazard a guess that it will be fine - as long as its completely dry inside before you try and use it.

I'd leave it for 3/ 4 days in the airing cupboard just to be sure.

I've washed a Sony memory stick before and that turned out fine after leaving it to dry.

Thanks guys. It sounds like it should be ok when dry. I expect the manufacturers probably test for this sort of abuse anyway.

To be honest, I'm not sure I'd trust it again. I'd be happy to try and get off any pics that might still be on there, but I would replace it.

Not so much water, but any chemicals in the detergent could be lingering.

Luckily the card was only a Sandisk Extreme II 1GB so not that expensive to replace if it is nbg!
