Online PhotoBooks - any recomendations
Discussion
I've just had a couple done at photobox for the first time. The first one a collection of images from a trip to peru back in 2000 we made, and it is great, the quality is fantastic - even though some of the pics were taken at 3MP.
The second one I'm less pleased with, I decided to have a motorsport yearbook - a collection of my favorite photographs from 2007. The quality again is great, however a lot of the photographs have been cropped more than I was expecting, and so quite a few pictures of whole cars / bikes are missing bits around the edges, which is really annoying. Probably my fault for trying to cram too much into the frame.
Looking back it's the same in the first, but they are more landscapey images and so cropping bits here and there doesn't make a huge difference.
The other thing is that the online software is not that flexible, and actually very small so it's difficult to see exactly what you're getting.
So I'm going to look at others now that provide an offline tool, bob books (www.bobbooks.co.uk) has caught my eye as have Blurb (www.blurb.com) but as I say I've tried neither yet.

Thanks for the advice. Has anyone had any experience with fotobook.co.uk or albumfactory.co.uk
We've used Fotobook before, we had wedding photo's made into a book, and are more than pleased with the results...so much so we'll soon be ordering 6 more copies for family. We tried the photobox one first, and were very disappointed...the online creation tool was frankly rubbish, and when the book arrived, some fonts and justification were wrong and one page had a big crease in it.
www.blurb.com and www.qoop.com are supposed to be good, although I've not used either them myself yet.
Digital Photo magazine did a comparison of the online photobook offerings a few months ago. I can't remember who won and as I'm in the US at the moment, I can't look for the mag but the answer may be on http://www.photoanswers.co.uk/ Might be worth seeing if anyone else can check for you.

I've used Bob Books. Software is a little clinky but the quality of the prinitng is top drawer. The only criticism I would lay at it's door is that the books are a little small page-size wise.
Delivered in under the promised time and father CVP was suitably impressed and believe me to impress a grumpy old 85 year old adopted Yorkshireman takes some doing. I will definitely use them again unless I can find someone who will print a larger book.

Do fotobook.co.uk only do line covers, i was thinking of getting a picture on the front/back covers done. I have seen that mypublisher can print a book jacket..are any of these options available from fotobook.co.uk
Bobbooks above do photo hardbacks by the look of thingsI've been looking for a photo book company to get a portfolio printed and after alot of research I've decided on www.viovio.com . Its US based but its pretty cheap (15 page 12x10 hardback portfolio cost $45 including delivery) and gets consistently high marks for print quality as well as offering a wider choice of print sizes than most others. I'll post back here with my impressions when it arrives.
