Which budget camcorder in the range £150-£200?

[GBGaffer]

Hi All,

I am hoping the collective wisdom of PH'ers can assist with a recommendation for the best camcorder in the range £150-£200.

The mother of my Godson wants to buy a camcorder for Christmas for her hubby to record the sprog's progress, and came to me for advice 'as I know about electronics and things'. Unfortunately, when it comes to digital camcorders/cameras, I am a complete luddite!

I suppose that the best optics for the money will always be important, but which recording media/resolution/battery type/outputs and I am completely lost.

Can anyone help? They do not need still image capability as they already have a digital camera.

Thanks in anticipation

Cheers

Graham
