New to this.. :)

I have a Fuji s7000, which seems ok. I've had it for a while but haven't really "got it" as far as the settings and such are concerned.. Are there any real beginners tips or guides that you guys can point me at? Specifically, I'm interested in night shots of cars, and landscapes.. which I guess is pretty much opposite ends of the game!
Night shots for cars are best off on a tripod, on a long exposure setting with lowest ISO you can use 80 or 100 usually being the case.
You have to make sure there is so light on the subject though, as the picture does turn out really really dark, and try to get the light infront of the subject, but not directly behind you.. so you get shaddows in the right places. Its mainly trial and error, thats the beauty of digital.
Landscapes are a totally different. Its nice to have an aperture of F22 if your camera goes up to that so that the deph of field is vast. Although as always theres no general rule to photography in that respect.
Im sure I will be corrected if wrong
