New Panasonic Lumix FX-100
Discussion
The new Panasonic Lumix FX-100 looks pretty impressive - very nice looking camera too.
12.2 Mega Pixels, optical image stabiliser, 3.6x optical zoom, wide-screen mode, hi-def video (15fps), 28mm wide angle lens, etc., etc.

Think this will be my next compact

I'd wait to see a review and find out if they have sorted the noise problems out. Incidentally, who actually needs 12mp? My D2X has but half the time at least I shoot in 7mp mode since it is only blowing up to A3+ that I need high definition. Thom Hogan, in his review of the D2X said that the quality had already surpassed 35mm quality and was on the way to 2 1/4 square quality anyway. An interesting topic that - where do we stop?
Crickey!
Lucky I saw this as I'm off to Italy in the morning and was going to get a new cam at Stansted!
Think I'll wait for this review 1st!
Its very unlikely that it'll be just as noisey as the rest but should be much better at 100 (or 50) to 400 ISO.
Looks lovely too! And 28mm is bril.

The DMC-FX100 incorporates a new 1/1.72-inch large CCD with 12.2-megapixel rich recording resolution. This super-high resolution is possible because sufficient light-receiving area is allocated to each pixel, thus preventing noise that would otherwise be generated by a smaller pixel area.
Sounds like someone is finally thinking about this properly!! Thats a pretty reasonabley sized CCD! NWMark said:
Would love to hear your thoughts, especially flash performance and noise when using the flash or in low light.
Will let you know although don't tend to take too many of these types of photos. What swung it for me over the Canon 860IS was the ability to shoot in 16:9 mode @ 6MP. Seeing as I rarely ever print photos and always view them on PC (24" widescreen) or through the PS3 @ 16:9, I thought this would be preferable.

Seems that the higher ISO performance is still rubbish looking at the shots.

Had my money refunded this morning as they had no stock!
Called the guy and he explained the problem, but put me in touch with SunDigital whom I called and they had it in stock for delivery tomorrow. Cost me another £2.80, but I can take it
