Dammit just did long post and it got lost!?

Couple of shots I took at band practice last night. Quite pleased with how they came out. I took a few more (mainly of equipment) but didn't get time to play with them now.

There's only 2 original photos here but couldn't decide whether to use in B&W or not, and on the shots 3-6 whether cropped or not. In 2 minds about that one - hoping posting here will help me decide!

Anyhow, taken with 50mm prime F2.2 1/20sec shots 1 and 2 and f1.8 at 1/60sec shots 3-6

ok one thing I'll do in photoshop tomorrow is get rid of the whiteness on the tip of his index finger (from pushing the string)...or at least reduce it!

Nice shots there Tony....

The B&W photo's just have that somthing 'extra' about them. I much prefer them to the colour versions...

Edited to say The first B&W one is by far the best to my eyes !

Nice photos, I prefer the B&W versions, I think they have more impact. If I were you, I wouldn't bother retouching his finger, at least it shows he is playing the guitar, rather than just posing(please say is is playing it!)
Slightly OT - is the guitar a Gibson Nighthawk?

No1 is a belter. Great use of shallow depth of field to draw attention to the point of interest. Good use of diagonal to create dynamism. Nicely balanced in terms of the rule of thirds. Nice and simple, so very effective. I think that the choice of black and white wins over colour in this instance.

I agree with Adam; the white mark shows that he is playing or making a very good job of pretending to.

Cracking pics - I personally prefer the colour ones to the B&W ones.

I never had you down as a muso!

Thanks everyone

I'm not normally quite so proud of my photographs, but these ones I particularly am.

He is indeed actually playing the guitar (was tuning up in the first shot and messing around in the second ones)...however, I had to get him to hold the pose because where I was using such a shallow depth of field, the focus was all over the place!

The guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul. I did have to ask the guitarist though...I'm not a muso in the true sense. I trust this explains why....hehe

Is that Epiphone Les Paul as in Kia 911?

It's Epiphone Les Paul as in "I'm a drummer, haven't the faintest idea, and had to text my friend to find out" hehe
