What a day yesterday, fantastic cool I'd be suprised if I saw half of the cars it was rammed. Good chance to show off my new wheels too

Excellent wasn't it, police had to stop traffic from coming in due to gridlock on surrounding roads according to the PA. Some great machinery at the show, I took about 400 photos and about 3 of them are of the same cars that you show above. Currently making space on my hard drive before I can process them !

Nick, brilliant pics as ever!

Dan, great to see you got a pic of my car - I didn't take any on the day. Never managed to meet up with any of the Renegades either. Considering I was there over 8 hours, it doesn't appear I achieved much, does it?!!

I couldn't miss the '67 Charger, its a great looking car.

Its the most photos I took at a show before, hence i dind't get to meet many people either, I was with te Renegades for about 20mins before I left. I cruised up with some Trans-Am's from Southampton.

Shellz, I saw your yellow Musang and was telling a friend about its being on telly in a comedy series, but I couldn't remember the name of that show. What was it called again?

GrantGB, would you mind if I put a link to your photo gallery from the Wheels Day Renegades photos gallery page?

I really like your photo's. i have a quick question though, picture 6, how do you get that effect of a very focused foreground and a out of focus background? when i have tried i can make it happen with Macro shots but not on longer shots. I looked it up on the internet yesterday and they said it was done using a wide appeture setting. i tried that but think it was missing detail. i presume you still need to be as close as possible to the subject to have that effect? I just dont think that the guide was being very clear in it's 'How to' approach.

Thanks

When thinking about depth of field (DOF) there are three things you need to consider:

1. Aperture, wider will make DOF smaller
2. Focal length, shorter has a larger DOF
3. Distance the objects are from the camera and to each other

Have a play around and you will see how it works. In that shot the lens I was using only goes to F4, and any lower in that light may have been over exposed so I steped back from the car and zoomed in to get a smaller DOF. This is why you'll see it more in your macro stuff as you are zoomed in. Hope this helps

Dan, the show is Saxondale with Steve Coogan. Apparently it's just been repeated on one of the BBC channels. Still waiting for the call regarding a second series.....
