Over the weekend I put a few pictures together in gallery as an experiment.
I'd be grateful if some of you would have a quick look at the pictures and make a few comments / suggestions. There's nothing spectacular there but I'd like to get some reaction.

Thanks

I'll probably get drummed out of PistonHeads for saying this, but pictures of cars racing don't really do anything for me, so I'll leave those.
The headshots I like, especially the Ramirez one. The Surtees one is a nice picture, but the background is a bit distracting. I think for that one, I might try going black and white, increase the contrast a bit to emphasise the lines on his face and then maybe isolate him by blurring and lowering the contrast in the background.
OK, quick and dirty - I just tried this:
First off, I applied optikVerve Labs Virtual Photographer for the black/white look (settings "Classic" + "Antique"
, then I made a selection around the subject (if I was going to spend more time on it, I'd have done a better job - as it is, it's just a quick smart edge selection) and promoted it to a layer. On the background, I softened the edges of the selection, inverted it and applied a Gaussian blur (14 pixels for the image as is), then I lowered the contrast a bit (about 25% down).
OK, that was a 5 minute job and could be made better with more care taken, but it illustrates the idea, I think.
