Leica D-LUX 3 ... Opinions Please?
Discussion
I know there have been some 'noise' issues with this camera...

And if you buy one, let me (us) know what you think as I fancy one meself.

Noise is an issue though...
Noise? Is this like granualrity on fast films? Sorry for daft question!
'digital noise' makes shots look grainy. At 100 ISO the Leica is great, but have read that at low light it just can't cope. Canon seem to the the best at avoiding it at present, everyone else is playing catchup.

I don't have the Leica but I looked at it for a while and then plumped for the Panosonic which is essentially (in spite of anoraks trying to convince otherwise
) the same camera.
Have had it for a few weeks now and use it as a back up to my Canon 20D and mostly when out on the hills climbing or for social circumstances. I think it is fantastic at less than 200 but the noise kicks in thereafter but frankly that is pretty true of most compacts.
the out of camera jpegs are so good that I rarely bother with raw albeit that was one of the two main reasons I wanted this camera - the other was the 28mm wide angle. Another option, if you're not too fussed by the need for a zoom is the Ricoh GR-D.
this from Saturday up near Blair Atholl...
