Gorillapod Joby
4gb CF

B&H is certainly a Photographers paradise. Probably could find slightly cheaper prices if you shop around, but the size of this place is just amazing. All under one roof.

Anyway, I only had a spare afternoon and eveing away from work to give the 24-70 a try and here's a few results:

and with a bit of photoshoppery on the plane

Took these with the fantastic Gorillapod. I spotted someone using one and he raved about it, so popped back to B&H and picked one up. It's so easy to use and compact to add into your bag.

mmm good plunger.. 70-200f2.8IS & the 24-70 - you dont do lightweight eh?

Which goprillapod, SLR zoom? Looks ace. Like the nighttime shots, city street foreground is to out of focus for me.

B&W looks and works well In my eyes. The Lion King street pic works too, loads going on, gives the impression of a busy city.

I like 'em.

Mmmmm, I'm afraid those night shots are too soft, so it looks like the support you were using didn't quite work.

Congrats on the new toys though.

agreed, was in a bit of a rush and cold. I guess without a proper fixed tripod, that's the trade off on motion blur.

Can't wait for March now. Hopefully Canon might bring out some newer toys

For those not going to the USA - I have just ordered a CF 4Gb Extreme 3 from here for £85. Didn't think that was too bad.

Ahh grand central...what an amazing place. Wish I had a wider lens when I was there. My 28-75 f2.8 Tamron on a 350d was proving a little crap.

What are the staff like in B&H? I went there to pick up some stuff just after christmas day but it was shut and not opening till 1st Jan. Found another place called Adorama but the staff were rather unhelpfull. The guy wouldn't even let me try anything out which sucked as I didn't know if I was getting a good or bad copy. Turns out my new 70-200 F4 IS is a minter though

Can I ask a dumb question? What's a gorilla pod? Is it some sort of mini tripod support thingy?

Did you use either the self timer or a remote ? My Gorillapod is stable enough if used in that manner

I trust greedy Gordon thinks you bought those lenses in the UK ?

Didn't have a remote hand, so i guess that's the problem.

I snuck the 70-200 back in the country inside me pants

Thanks thumbup

It looks very much like if you handle it it may wobble a bit but with a remote I would wager it works really well?! Nice idea though, not seen or heard anything of them before!

No chance, my 28-70 weighs more than that on it's own before you even attach it to a body!
