Would it work well in traffic, say when cars aren't changing lanes to often and then the light streaks are straight, single lane?

Try longer exposures so there isn't as much bare concrete?

I guess from a bridge over motor way could be a good place.

Only my ideas.

cheers i tried various exposures but i was only there for 10 mins
its the best night so far for a picture and even then its blowing a hully
i took the pics on the middle of a bridge but it had a huge mest fence on it
so i just had a play what sort of exposure time would you suggest ??
and do you think more cars or less

search out some le mans pics fopr inspiration, i like low shots with single cars turning a corner, or a car pulling away, so you get some focus of the car then the light lines running through it.
very nice start though mate.

try taking the pics just as it gets dark and avoid area where the headlights may catch the camera and burn the image. just practice and make note of the exif data for your favourites, go back and have another go. The results will get better and better. You'll soon get a feel for what works.
The faster traffic will allow for faster shutter speeds or longer streaks.
A longer lens will also increase the movement
I try to use a tripod and self timer to limit camera shake

I've also been creating streaks using the zoom during the exposure, again just experimenting

thanks for sharing your pics

Rich

(ps I'm not an expert, like you I'm enjoying the magic of digital pics)
