Digital Camera for a young child
Discussion
I bought a cheap Vivitar (about £30 I think it was) from Argos for my friends' daughter (6 y-o) last Christmas. It's not a toy camera, so she has to be supervised when she uses it, but it's not bad at all for the purpose. Yes, the one you posted looks rubbish. Do get the one with LCD screen at least as looking at the pictures they've just taken is what they enjoy most. And the neck strap is a must.

Dreadful reviews? Arse. I just recieved one of these in the mail, er sorry from Santa for little Zax (age 3). Haven't taken it out of the packing yet, but will do so and test it before wrapping. It was suggested when I posted the same question on here a couple of months back. Hopefully it's not that bad, and to be honest he probably won't care. he's quite happy with the kind of quality a disposable camera gives (ie poor in our experience, especially in the sticky fingers of a toddler
)
Of course his is blue, don't want to confuse the boy...

I bought one for SBaby too. To be honest, I don't really care that the images are all going to be 640x480, and he won't care either. All he wants is to see his own work on the PC. I occasionally allow him to press the shutter button on the D200 when I've set up, and he loves doing that. So this way, he'll have a robust little camera that'll withstand his little 3-year-old foibles, and if it breaks then it didn't cost me £1000 so it doesn't really matter.
