I'm after a full manual 35mm SLR of some sort. I need to take some time out from my D30 and really learn how to take technically proper photos. So, a full manual SLR beckons.

I have abolsutely no idea what's what in this area, so what would you recommend, mainly for landscapes and static stuff, maybe the odd bit of motorsport. Some cracking lenses for the ebay list too please.

Cheers gang.

I have an Olympus OM-1n which is, I believe, the last of the fully mechanical cameras. It has an on board battery powered light meter if needed but apart from that it is entirley manual in it's operation. I bought it primarily for astro-photography but it's taken some good every day pictures too. Check out ebay, they're pretty expensive at £70 but worth it in my opinion.

What about Nikon FM2? COmpletely manual and even functions perfectly if the metering batteries die. You'll have to guess the exposure then but at least you'll learn. Should be able to pick one up in the region of £150 - £200

Are you not tempted to go for a medium format camera, or possibly a Rangefinder?

Dont too either....you will end up selling your organs.

How about a canon ae1? Ive flirted with the idea of getting one of them.

I have, but i'm ratehr daunted by not knowing the first thing about them. Are there any online FAQ pages?

I've got a few things on my ebay watch list now form this thread, depends what they go for. Budget is probably £250 tops for the whole lot unless i find something that can justify the extra. No hasselcack for me unfortunately.
