My Wife recently got a video camera for work purposes (she’s a teacher and wants to video practicals) and we are looking for an easy to use software package that will let her;

1, Make sense of the jumbled scenes downloaded from the camera i.e. change the order, shorten the length, etc.
2, Add titles to scenes.
3, Add commentary/music.
4, Possibly improve quality i.e. brighten scenes, reduce background noise etc.
5, Burn to DVD so that the results can be shared with other people through a standard DVD player. (On this issue is it better to use writable or re-writable discs?)

We have Movie Maker on Windows XP and tbh we have not found it that easy to use.

Is there a software package that will allow us to do what we want for around £50? Or is it worth us persevering with Movie Maker? (is there a book or set of instructions that we can get for this?)

I was reading and article the Sunday Times a few weeks ago and it recommend Sony Vegas Movie Studio. Does anyone have any experience of this?

Movie Maker is much easier than any others I've come across. (I've used lots). I think you'd be best playing with that for a while... it will do all you want and it's already on your computer.

just work your way down the 1, 2, 3, 4 on the left hand side and MM will do everything for you.

If you go this route and get stuck... e mail me.

Premier Elements will do everything MM does and it burns to DVD IIRC

I also use Premier... and the interface has a learning curve a bit like the face of Everest.
