Hi all,
just started playing with fitting a camera into our race car and found it only creates .mov files. Look ok but I really need to work with the files (basic editing, maybe some titles etc but not needed) and not sure whether to convert to another format and use Windows Movie Editor (which doesn't support .mov format) or get another editor package.

Any suggestions gratefully received,

Chris

Chris - If it's a DV camera - it doesn't create .mov files... whatever you are using to get the vid from the camera to the PC creates the type of file. If you plug the camera into a PC running windoze XP - you can get Movie Maker to download clips as a wmv or avi - and then you can edit as you see fit.

e mail if you need further help

Steve

Thanks Steve, it's actually just a digital camera (Fuji Finepix) running in video mode. Want to prove the setup before splashing out on a DV camera though the picture quality is reasonable so may stick with this.

The files appeared to have been saved as .mov files directly onto the memory card and there doesn't appear to be any settings on the camera for changing output format. Will have a play with Windows Movie Maker to see if that can pull files off the camera as you suggest but will also need to find a way to work with those I've already downloaded.

Cheers,

Chris

I think that's what I'm using to play them currently but it doesn't allow any editing or converting, will check when I get home.

Thanks,

Chris
