Some square crops for a change....
Also, the processing of the Porsche shot – what do you think? Over the top and crap or arty and cool?

I like them

They've got a hint of Steve McQueen in film Le Mans about them

Re the processing on the Porsche shot, I like it.

Also as has been said, a touch of Steve McQueen Le Mans in the feel of the two portrait images. I think it's the warmth and ricjness of the greys and blacks if you see what I mean.

Cheers

I like them alot, nice one!

I see what you mean about the Porsche shot - I think it's a bit too washed out on the front end of it, but I can see what you were going for though!

Can I take this a BIT off topic? Well, it's kinda related. When you take a colour photograph and change it to B&W in photoshop - how do you do it? I never seem to get the right tone!

Cheers guys

I hadn't seen the McQueen/Le Mans connection but I'll take that as a great compliment, thanks!

I don't have the originals to hand at the moment, but it's a pretty safe bet that all these were shot at f4, 300mm.

Yeah, I wish there was a bit more definition around the headlights and air intakes, the complete lack of details kinda ruins it for me...

There's a number of ways to do it, but I used an adjustment layer -> channel mixer. By adjusting the R,G and B channels separately you get much better control over the look of the image.

Of course, to finish it off, some dodge and/or burn and contrast adjustment is often useful as well....
