Brother has just rung me for a bit of advice re his computer system needing an upgrade due to having to work from home for a bit. While making the changes, he'd like a new monitor, pref 19" or bigger but must be flat screen (no space for CRT) and a very good printer.

so, suggestions please gents - any price range considered to give a bit of choice, what has really stunned you with it's quality of print or sharpness of screen?

he wont go wrong with an eizo 18" http://shop.colourconfidence.com/prod or 21"http://shop.colourconfidence.com/prod

printer wise im no expert but for the odd print for hanging my epson 2100 is superb, though a lot easier and cheaper to send to a lab in my opinion.

I have an LG Flatron L1920P. Bought it about three years ago. Was given five star rating in computer mags at time. Neat and stylish design, great screen. Cannot fault it.

As for printers, I only use labs.

How about:

He could have a 20", a 23" or a 30" depending on his budget

I can highly recommend the 23", and yes, it can be used with a Windows pee cee

Many Thanks chaps, will have a good look into all of those.

The printing side of it - for anything he really likes he does indeed go to a Lab, but he also likes to be able to preview final versions of doctored pics to guage effect, and print the odd "snap" shot here and there - as he has to buy a printer to do his work stuff on, he thought he might as well get one he can make some use of!
