got sent some Wagyu steak yesterday to reviw for a magazine - £20 for a 7oz sirloin yikes

Took a couple of pics at the same time

But my favourite photo was after I'd eaten all the nice steak, and was finishing off the "cheap" Sainsbury's one, which cooks/looks better because it's so much thicker. I also corrupted it with some home made chips

PS, the Wagyu was MUCH better than the the Sainsbury's, which was one of their very fancy ones, and very good in its own right too.

Being a veggie those steaks ain't doing anything for me, but those chips. Oh, those chips... lick

Anyway...not sure about the first one, as it seems to be a shot which isn't entirely one thing, or another. Are we looking at the pattern in the cutting board, or are we looking at the steak?

Aside from that, I think they're great pictures

I had a kobe steak whilst in Japan and it was quite frankly by far the best steak I've ever had. And that's saying something because I eat a lot of steak!

Is wagyu stuff any good? I'd be tempted to give one a whirl.

I like number 2 with the steak cooked, I can just imagine eating that juicy steak.

I hope you don't mind but for me in number three, the out of focus knife is a bit distracting and detracts from what I think is a lovely image. Those chips look really tasty.

Cheers

I suspect for wagyu beef that it is actually a bit overdone! You are supposed to hardly cook it at all, so as not to melt all the marbled fat in the meat and lose the texture and richness that marbling gives.

I sound like a steak pervert.

That looks soooo delicious. Perhaps for my birthday next year I could persuade the Mrs into getting me some Wagyu fillet steak...

Ive decided to experiment in moving towards medium, away from well done. Slowly, to avoid any flash backs from my caveman reincarnations. Afterall I dont know who I ate with, or who I dragged by the hair to my cave each night, and wouldnt want a good meal ruined by an aftershock of a psychic nature. What worries me most though, is the amount of noise in photo 1...

You've made me want steak for breakfast - on that basis, I'd say your photographs are successful

the knife was in because it is part of a set my sister gave me for my birthday, and I was sending her the photo.
