Now I'm in the dSLR club, what sites do you recommend for uploading images, just in case the October competition thread is "Really crappy holiday photos what you have took. Without reading the manual. At all"?

I'm thinking ease of use, plus auto resizing to 750 pixels...

I use a free account on photobucket.com which sems pretty simple and reliable. The auto resize is done by the Pistonheads website itself but it is ugly - it also means people have to wait longer to see your pictures - so learning how to crop and resize ought to be at the top of your 'to do' list.

I use uncle-dave.co.uk

fellow pistonheader and has a guide on how to post too, I believe it has a resize option aswell. but would recommend learning how to crop and resize yourself

It may be worth getting your own site setup and storing on that for ultimate control. Dont entrust resizing to the web - not only will it make your pics look nasty as a result, but they will take longer to load up - you can create a photoshop action which can auto-resize for you.

I was thinking of doing that, but have no idea hopw to authopr or host a site, or how much it would cost. I take it there's a reklatively simple way to differentiate between public and private folders on a website?

Is there a way to "watermark"/copyright pictures?

You'll all be pleased to know I've now started shooting in RAW!

Several on here will host a site for you. It's the way to go if you intend to upload a lot for public consumption. I use the guy that runs Easytrack.co.uk. (my site: www.SteveCarter.com )

His server is quick and he's a top bloke... Just as well, as my site is now over 2 gig! boxedin

Yeah - but either you totally wreck the image with your stamp . . . or some photochopper will have it removed in minutes . . . so best thing to do is only offer low res for public consumption . . .

A wise move . . .
