I have my fair share of pics that are out of focus but I've always kept them thinking someday there will be a way ...

I've just run a blurry pic of my little girl through ChatGPT. It was a lovely pic and was amazed with what it came back with !

That is actually a great idea! I need to try that, though blurry photos have not existed in my hands for 25 years....since the last time I used film. There will be some blurry ones amongst the good, so that is a one day in the future type project!

I've put a few childhood photos (1970''s) of my brothers and I though ChatGPT, and while they look great the faces weren't quite right. Its a bit uncanny valley.

I did one of a young Mrs 98elise which was a great photo (1980's), just a bit dark and grainy. That was so much better.

I guess its just depends on how much data it has to work with, and whats wrong with it. Amazing stuff but it still has a way to go. It might be better if you could use a better photo for it to reference for the faces.

Also try it on old black and white photos !

Had a b&w photo of my dads old Celica from 1979 uploaded a description with the picture ie colour any badges and colour etc was pretty detailed.

The photo was taken on a misty morning and the results were stunning.

The rain on the car, roads, houses etc were absolutely spot on it was almost like it was taken in colour.

I had the same sort of issue though find that blurred photos tend to generate a lot of guesswork on faces. One of my great great grandfather can just about be worked out, using your brain but AI produced someone who looked like Mark Twain and added glasses. It can be dangerous as this can mislead future generations. Same with some of my own selfies which dint look like me.

What was amazing was photos that were far too dark and which photo editors just wouldnt touch, came out like I was there again.
