The competition theme for May is "Alive"

This is deliberately a broad brief, which could range from capturing the feeling of being alive, the birth of a new season, to photos of basically anything that is living. Hopefully that will give scope for quite a few entries.

Good luck!

The photos taken must be your own work
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for following month and judges it at the end of the month
Entries and discussion on a single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Winners should update the Competition Wiki (it's easy)
Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.
If after 7 days of a competition ending, either a winner has not been declared, or the winner has not created a new thread, a new thread should be started, with the topic set as whatever the topic was 10 years ago, based on this wiki.

I never feel more alive than when I'm speeding between trees on my bike, and this is my favourite bike shot taken in May.

Half of this old Goat Willow fell down in the heavy snows earlier this year which left it unbalanced and in danger of complete collapse, so we had it almost completely cut back. Happy to see yesterday that it has started to sprout and is still alive and fighting back.

Firstly, apologies for my late posting - I haven't had chance to reply to this thread over the last couple of days, due to playing in the European Pinball Championship in Austria (yes, this is actually a "thing") , but now back home, so here are the results..

Some excellent photos - I liked the poignancy of the Sycamore Gap image, and a great photo, but as the tree is no longer alive, it doesn't quite make it!

In 3rd place, a great photo - and I know how hard it is to get this type of image:

In 2nd place, I love the "triffid" reference, and nod to some old horror movie (Frankenstein??) - "It's Alive!"

The winner though, as it exudes the feeling of being alive, singing in the rain - over to you Mike, for June's competition subject!
