I've been using Picasa for many years and on several PCs and laptops to catalogue images and carry out simple editing with Lightroom and Photo Shop for the more serious stuff

Now I've finally migrated to Win 11, is there a good, preferably free, replacement for Picasa or should I plod on with it on my laptop? I've nothing against it, just haven't explored alternatives.

Presumably you've already seen this .....

https://picasa.google.com/

I used to use Picasa but migrated to Lightroom once it was retired.

My phone pics, which are mostly pictorial notes so only needed for a short while, are uploaded temporarily to my Google account.

After a day out with my camera I like to slip the card into my laptop to review the results and do a quick cull to keep those worthy of further attention. I've always found Picasa handy for this and wondered it there's a current alternative though I'd be quite happy to continue using it.

I know it does. As I've been configuring a new laptop I wondered if there was something else worth trying. I'll check out FastStone - thanks.

For your useage have you considered using Affinity Photo and ditch the Adobe stuff? It’s a perpetual licence, very very reasonable and a great replacement for Photoshop. Has a raw editor built in too if you need one.

Coupled with Fastone image viewer it would do what you need. Also has a 6 months free trial free trial I believe.

I bought Affinity last year and it's on my PC but I haven't had the time to get to know it yet.
