Canon R7 - Lens Decisions
Discussion
I'm an amateur food photographer, and my camera is mainly used for shooting YouTube videos, rather than photos. I've been getting by with a Canon 60D and an EF-S 18-200mm lens, although I rarely use the upper end of the zoom. I'm waiting until Black Friday to see if there are any good deals available on the Canon R7. I'm also tempted to opt for the Canon R7 lens kit that comes with an RF-S 18-155mm lens.
Basically, is it worth paying the extra for the native RF-S lens? It is going to be a major improvement over the EF-S lens? Better quality video and photos? Faster AF? I believe the RF-S lens is able to get closer to the object and still focus?
My EF-S lens would require an RF to EF adapter, which is around £100. Therefore, the cost to include the new lens is only a couple of hundred GBP.
What do you think?

Generally speaking, the older EF-S lenses were never really designed with video in mind, so the focus motors can be quite 'steppy' - You'll probably find the newer RF-S will be much smoother and responsive for autofocus when shooting video.
If it were my money, id get the native glass and sell the EF-S. - EF / EF-S glass only going to get older and be worth less from here on, since they dont make any EF mount cameras anymore. So, at least in my view, you'll get a better price selling EF-S glass now, as 2nd values will slowly drop over next few years

Excellent! Thanks for this! As you say, probably best just to go for the R7 with the kit lens If it were my money, id get the native glass and sell the EF-S. - EF / EF-S glass only going to get older and be worth less from here on, since they dont make any EF mount cameras anymore.
