Can't use shotgun mic on a gimbal

I’ve got a Panasonic G9 on a Weebill S gimbal.

The microphone on the G9 is poor and dreadful in a slight breeze. I use a Smallrig shotgun mic when the cameras in on a cage but on the gimbal it fouls an arm at certain angles. I’m on the lookout for a light, flat microphone to fit the hot shoe or a very low mount for the mic. I’d prefer directional, as with the shotgun mic, but if needs must I'll make do.

Or any alternative methods of overcoming my problem welcome, and received with pathetic gratitude.
