Monthly Photo competition August - SPEED-
Discussion
.............................SPEED............................
Seems as an obvious one as we all know it matters! but not used since 2007 by the looks of it.
Should give some variety as it can be any moving object, Transport, Wildlife, static machinery with twirly bits, even a still object, taken with a moving Camera.
Try and get some new stuff if you can, weather ought to be nice and I expect there will be some Motorsport/Airshows/Railtours and lots of moving wildlife around.
Rules are;
The photos taken must be your own work
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for following month and judges it at the end of the month
Entries and discussion on a single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Winners should update the Competition Wiki (it's easy)
Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

Good topic choice, might be tricky getting something moving faster than the moon
As a youngster if I was asked to name something speedy, I probably would have said one of these. As it happened one appeared overhead today, out of the blue you might say, conveniently with the camera close.
1944 SPITFIRE Mk T.9 - it seems to belong to this company, so I'd say someone was having a good day. https://flyaspitfire.com/aircraft/1944-spitfire-mk...
Hard to judge the speed with nothing else in the frame, but I would say it was doing about 150 Leptons, or around half a clappers.

LeMans 2017. Kamui Kobayashi sets a new lap record at just over 156mph. This was taken from the banking at Porsche Curves, where the LMP1s were entering at c 180mph…

YEEEE HAA!!! God bless America!
A show of 'Horns' from the 'Wizzo' (Weapons Systems Officer) on this USAF F-15E Strike Eagle from RAF Lakenheath as it fluffs up whist pulling G on it's way through Cad West in the 'Mach Loop' Wales.
There's few spectacles like seeing 30+ tons of metal going past you at the same height (often lower) at circa 500 mph.

Rather than the more predicable car shot, I'll go for a risky bike shot:

I was in the Toyota pit when this, frankly epic, lap was set. Kamui came on the radio and, with typical Japanese understatement, said “I think that was a pretty good lap”. Legend.Kobayashi #7 lap record by Nigel Ogram, on Flickr
