I've put my name down for a craft fair in November as it's a local charity so it supports them.

My wife does some other sublimated craft so we're splitting the space, so not as if I need to fill it with lots of my work but just wondering what the experience of anyone else was of selling prints etc at a craft fair.

I dabbled some years ago. Just the once & then Covid lockdown hit and I then just did a few sublimated slates on the corner of her table so no experience really of selling prints as such.

I have a card machine so payments are sorted but how many prints should I take? What sizes? How to present them? What about dibond or other media?

This is a bit of fun really but do intend to do more of them in the future but would rather not end up with too much unsold stock either. I get that it's also a vehicle to drive traffic through to a POD site as well as sales on the day for most sellers.

Not expecting to make a fortune as it's just to support a local charity but would be good to hear what others have found works or doesn't.

Yep.

Unless they are very specific or highly unique, a 10x8 in a plastic sleeve won't sell particularly well - or for anything like a meaningful amount of money.

Framed or box-canvas tend to be the most popular as people can take them home and hang them rather than faff around with framing themselves. You may miss a few sales because people don't like the frame but the trick is to use simple frames that can fit anywhere.

As a minimum, order a load of mounts and sell prints with these. These improve the appearance and looks like they're buying something more substantial.

As you've guessed already, you'll not be buying a Caribbean cruise with the proceeds but can be a fun day and all for a good cause and all that!

A few years ago I was asked if I’d like to set up a stand at Santa Pod to sell prints of some of the photos I’d taken there.

I did the maths, and the outlay was quite large, when you couldn’t guarantee getting any money back at all. Add to that, Billy No Mates all day/weekend, and not seeing any racing, I decided not to.

This one's only costing a tenner to support a charity so not too bad on that front!

If we have a bit of fun and make enough for a KFC on the way home then that'll do for this one, a good testbed to see what attracts any interest.

That’ll be the best approach, I think.
