Photography competition plan b?
Discussion
It seems like every so often we have a winner of the photography competition breaking "Rule 5" and not either setting the next competition or judging it. Then there is a bit of confusion about the next steps.
There has been talk of voting for either the winner, or setting the new topic, with that vote either being open to everyone or just the previous month's entrants.
However, in the interests of just getting things moving, the last few times we have gone back to the theme exactly 10 years ago, and gone with that. With either the previous winner, should they eventually be selected, or the person who started the thread, judging at the end of the month.
It is probably worth deciding the best course of action and updating the wiki to clarify the "plan b" to avoid future confusion.

Yep - I'd be happy with that approach, i.e. if the 'winner' does not choose the theme of the next competition in a timely manner, then go for whatever the theme was 10 years ago. Perhaps also include a set time period for the winner to choose the theme - say, 7 days after the winner is announced?

Both proposals seconded/thirdedOn the subject of photo competitions- photography clubs pretty much all have monthly competitions and frequently the subject is set in such a way that the participants need to go and actually take a photo for it.
Most of ours are basically people going through their past work to find something that sort of fits the subject.

I believe that was tried a year or two ago and the number of entries plummetedMost of ours are basically people going through their past work to find something that sort of fits the subject.

I'd suggest setting a specific timeline for the judge to judge it by before invoking the process. I'd put forward 10 days, ie 10th of the following month. That gives a full week cycle for them to remember, and it's the same number as the years we go back, so easy to remember the 10-10 rule!
