DXO PureRaw 3. Takes its time.

My 6 year old desktop PC (fast in its day!) takes apprtox 1 min to process files from a 50MP camera and 30 seconds for files from a 24MP camera. It is very processor intensive though as when running, other applications get a little less responsive.
Excellent piece of software though.
I tend to import all into LR, and then process only a selection with DXO PureRAW

They’re 24mp images.
I’m wondering whether I need to free up more space on the SSD. I didn’t think that would make much difference to booting up an SSD computer, but it really has for me. I’ll try to back it up tonight, put the photos on an external drive, and see what happens.
Well, I cleared 100Gb of space on the SSD (previously 25Gb) and that made no difference at all.
I then changed one of the settings so the process automatically chooses CPU and GPU as it sees fit. That cut it from over 5 minutes, to under 2 minutes 30 seconds. The fans were noisier, bottom of the casing warmer.
At least now I know!

I had a thought last night: thermal paste for the cpu/heatsink.
I meant to replace the thermal paste last summer, but a particularly rotten, cruel year distracted me from the less important matters.
So, I've ordered paste, cleaner, screwdrivers and spudger, and will hopefully have this sorted by the end of next week.
I'll update then. Might have saved myself £3k
