I received an email today telling me that my photography business had now been listed on photography1000.com, with a link to my listing and another link to use to claim the listing to manage it. The website claims to be a "thriving community of individuals seeking photography services and products". It appears that you have to sign up for their site in order to have your listing removed, which seems dodgy.

I didn't request nor sign up for this, and I also did not grant them permission to take content and images from my website and social feeds, which they have done. I've emailed them requesting they immediately remove it all so we will see what their response is but just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them and what the eventual outcome was?

Almost no hits on Google, and two Trustpilot reviews pretty much saying what you’ve posted.

Happened to me as well, just looks as though they used a facebook scraper.

Thanks to you both. Yeah I did have a look for reviews and saw nothing exactly glowing. Shortly after I sent my email demanding they remove my listing and content I note that the link to my listing now shows a 404 not found so not sure if they have actually removed it or if their shonky, disreputable website is just broken.

@DavidY, did you do anything about it or just ignore?

Quite a few times I've been about to click on something on FB when it's said 'XYZ company will get stloads of your personal data' - so I don't proceed. Usually games.

Dont know if its a scam or not, but i went ot the web site and it did bring up the local photographers , i and live in New York.
Sounds like a start up idea that once established will try and charge for you to be on the site but is currently building its rep and usefulness for stats later if i took a guess

Yeah I found some local (to me) photographers on it as well, presumably they'd also been listed without their prior knowledge or consent, as I had. That strikes me as a fairly questionable business practice, if they'd contacted me and said "hey we're building this website for making it easy for people to find photographers, here's how it works/what we charge, are you interested?" then I might have been willing to listen. Grabbing your content from your website or socials and then making you sign up (and potentially pay) to be able to manage or remove your listing seems a bit like hostage taking.

The link they sent to "my" listing now gives a HTTP 404 not found error so maybe my threat of legal action was heeded.
