Lightroom Deleting Files from Disc?

All, I'm using Lightroom Classic, and have imported some files from an event yesterday.
As I'm going through them, I've deleted a couple ("Remove image from lightroom" NOT "Remove from Lightroom and disc").
When I go to the folder that the deleted images were imported from, all the images have gone from the folder. Not just the ones I deeted from Lightroom, but the whole lot. Luckily I still have everything on SD cards, so will try again.
Have I mistakenly checked some strange setting, or is there some other possible explanation? I don't recall this ever happening previously.

eta, I think I inadvertantly MOVED then rather than ADDed them to the catalogue.
