The summer break is nearly here. Show us your best summer holiday pic, the one that captures a fond memory. Maybe that's a family game of beach cricket, a quiet pint with a mate by a canal, or solo hiking in alpine pastures.

Rules as usual:

The photos taken must be your own work

The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.

The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for following month and judges it at the end of the month

Entries and discussion on a single thread, please.

All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.

Winners should update the Competition Wiki (it's easy)

Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

We're not really beachy people, yet after a couple of weeks doing stuff in the jungles of Guatemala and Belize, it felt quite nice when we finally sat down at the beach hotel on Ambergris Caye to this view.

Was up near the Forth Bridge last weekend for a break, lovely part of the world.

Mrs Adz's family are from a little village in Italy, we went there in 2018 and I absolutely fell in love with the village.
It's built on the very top of a large hill.
I took this on a wander round, looking up to the top.

A strong showing so far this month! Thank you to those participating.

There's still one day to go... get your entries in. Judging this month will be biased to the subject and not solely on photographic merit smile

Outstanding work, chaps and gals. A great showing this month. Thanks all for participating.

It was a tough choice, so many great photos and postcard moments.

Third place to dundarach. It's the blurry waggy tail what done it

Second place to RedThree (bonus points for PH powerfully built director subjects)

First place to bennno. The point of view made it personal, plus the foreground rock and the peripheral framing made it a good photo.

Thank you, just goes to show that a smartphone can take reasonable pictures.

As it turns out a lot of the latest Indiana Jones movie was set there also, Cefalu is very photogenic.
