Having a series of large trees removed soon, Id like to capture on time lapse at least one day's work on them so need a camera that will keep going all day, very high definition isn't of great importance. My small ancient compact has timelapse mode but won't do long durations.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what may be suitable?

A spare iPhone (plugged into a charger)?

Yes, any old phone will do this as long as it's kept charged. Use a mains charger or get a big USB powerpack for it. Much cheaper than buying a dedicated camera.

I also have a GoPro which has timelapse mode, but they have pretty tiny batteries and will need external power too for any decent length time lapse.

Get a camera that will work with a Pluto Trigger, brilliant device for this kind of thing.

I have a couple of power packs, I'll see if my phone has timelapse (an old Samsung Galaxy).

Interesting, and not just for timelapse, thanks for the link.
