Maybe not the right forum although it it photography/video related.

I have a Insta360 X3, the standard selfie stick and the carbon (long) selfie stick. I have read several times that the standard stick doesn't work well when mounted to a vehicle, as it screws in at the bottom it cannot take the forces being applied, the carbon one seems OK from what I can gather.

What I want to do is mount the carbon stick to my motorcycle, it's a KTM 1290SDR, which is a tubular steel frame, so I am looking for mounting solutions. I am thinking two mounting points, one being the base and screw a mount into the stick and bolt to the frame, the second being a clamp around the stick and then mounting to the bike via a blt etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can use for this, Ram mounts seems like a good choice but there are so many so really need someone who has done the same.

I have a KTM 1290GT and use a GoPro mounted to the handlebar with RAM mounts, which works quite well, either looking at me or looking forward. To mount it looking forward I use the RAM carbon pole which is about 30cm long and glued a RAM ball to each end. It ought to work well enough mounted to the frame but you might get more vibration coming int the camera. The GoPro 10 and especially the 11 have excellent resistance to vibration and great stabilisation, so they work very well. I've not tried any other cameras.

What really works well for me is a chin mount on the helmet. https://chinmounts.com/en-gb But this isn't much help to you !

You'll absolutely need 2x mounting points. The screw at the bottom is quite strong but not enough to support the weight of the camera about 7ft in the air with the bumps etc. I always put a cable tie somewhere as a backup too. I also found if I had the stick too vertical, the pole collapsed / de-extended itself due to bumps and vibrations, although ductape helped solve that problem! Make sure you always use the app to check the image btw, for some reason every now and again mine goes a bit crazy with the colour temps and my footage comes out really blue . Really annoying when you captured something amazing only for everyone to look like a smurf lol. Other than that though,it's been faultless
