I can't help thinking the press are spinning this story in the way the "photographer" wants.
From that article it would appear the organisers knew that AI was involved in creating the photo before they gave it the award. So the big reveal that it was really done with AI is a bit misleading is it not?

Anyway, lets face it, you would have to be blind not to notice that wasn't a genuine photograph. Just look at the hands, not to mention the face of rear person......

did it?
BBC said:
A spokesperson for the World Photography Organisation, the photography strand of art events organisers Creo, said that during their discussions with the artist, before he was announced as the winner, he had confirmed the piece was a "co-creation" of his image using AI.
So, at the very least, they knew AI had been used in it's creation, if not the extent it had been used.
It was also apparently in the "Creative open category". That in itself says that modified pictures were allowed (and even expected).

So (imho) the news here is that Boris misled the organisers about how much AI was involved in an attempt to gain publicity. The BBC appear happy to help him.

Yes, I thought that. The person at the back doesn't look real at all.

I tried exactly the same thing with the January (or Feb, can't remember) photo competition here. The entry didn't even make the top three. The AI was really disappointed & said something about taking retribution as soon as we give it full control of our nuclear arsenal.

It looks like a painting. Are the Judges fools?
