April 2023 Photo Competition
Discussion
The subject is Old & New.
A photo which depicts something old with or against something new - interpret it how you want - could be people, objects, nature etc. Both objects can be but don't have to be of the same type so some incongruity is fine.
Rules as per usual: but with a new rule regarding results/next competition.
The photos taken must be your own work and can be taken at any time, but please do get out with your gear if you have safe opportunity etc.
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
You can only submit one, and only one photo.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.
If the judge fails to pick a winner after 3 days any winner in the last 12 months may pick a winner and, if the winner does not pick a subject within the next 48 hours, will also set the next months subject.
The winner should update the Photography Competition Photo Challenge Wiki
Entries and discussion on this single thread please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.

3rd place is BoRed S2Upid's pic of the Shard:
2nd place is Mrs Singlecoil with the cookbook photos - like this a lot being a food photographer!

Before I come in for any criticism, firstly, no, it's not my photo and secondly yes, I'm aware that the April competition is over!
I do, though, think that this shot is hard to beat for encapsulating "Old vs New", in two striking ways.
The picture shows the Old State House in Boston, dwarfed by the much newer, taller skyscrapers for the first layer, but for the second, the balcony is that from which the Declaration of Independence was made, setting the Old of the British Empire against the New of the independent America.
