Hi all, question time. Some years ago I bought an Epsom V500 scanner to scan my old negs in to my PC, it’s also an A4 scanner. It’s big and probably quite expensive now

My niece has just asked me if I could recommend a scanner she could buy her mum, I had a google and there are loads on stand alone scanners out there, from less £100 to over £800.

Being stand alone and just for 35mm negs they are quite compact Compared to the V500.

I am guessing the price reflects on the resolution, but can someone suggest something reasonably priced which produces acceptable scans, preferably from someone who has used it and can speak as an end user.

Thank you one and all.

There's another thread a bit further down, I've got one of the cheap ones (currently £40-odd at Lidl) and they're no more than OK. For me, if it's to scan old photos that weren't very good to start with (record snaps, rather than photographs) it's been OK, but they're not great scans. I've got another old one to try out, but haven't had room to set it up yet, so no personal experience on it.
