Is there anyone in this community who can share his experience with a Hasselblad 2000FC? And can someone explain why they are less popular
/less expensive than the 500 C/M?
Im not sure they are that much cheaper, in theory its really a better camera than the 500cm as its a focal plane shutter and not leaf so for work outside the studio a 2000th shutter speed is useful/less expensive than the 500 C/M?
However, for an old camera, it has one large set back, it uses electronics to work, this makes it more fragile and potential brick status which after about 40 years now, makes it an expensive risk
Just my opinion of course
I believe the issue lies with the lack of protection for the shutter when the film back is removed. The later models retracted the shutter so fingers couldn’t go through it (might be the FCW onwards).
I think you would struggle to find somebody who can repair one now if you did have a finger mishap - Hasselblad stopped repairs for them many years back.
A 500C or CM is a much better proposition (although old again) as the shutter sits in the lens making the body easier to service/repair - I’m still using an early 500C and CM without issues.
