Why is the 6D II so cheap?
Discussion
Just seen it Black Friday'd for <£900. Which vs the 7D II and the 80D/90D feels like a bit of a bargain, let alone considering it a cut-price 5D IV...
...so why is it so cheap?
- Bad rep / reliability?
- Falls between the stools / doesn't do anything any better than the rest?
- 'consumer full-frame' is a small market?
I've currently got a 5D III and a 7D I, and I'm not really getting on with the 7D for motorsport photography, wondering whether to upgrade it. Know the 6D probably isn't the ideal tool for that job, but given it's cheaper than the 90D, I started wondering...

I would guess that it's at the end of its life. It's over 5 years old, and the world has moved on a long way. Canon will be discounting them, 5DIV next, then the 1DX, and that'll probably be the end of new Canon dSLRs. I can't see the lower models last very long now, there just won't be enough profit in them if they're priced under the smaller sensor mirrorless cameras.
