Appreciate the link, I hazard a guess that anyone looking for info this is the first place to look, which I have by the way.

As you can see from my question I am not using a DSLR or anything like that i am using a phone and how would I get it to the correct size.

You upload it and they do the work.

Brilliant, so if your taking the photo you done need to adjust etc, that saves time trying to get the correct size and MB total.

thanks

Yes. Bear in mind your first few attempts will probably be rejected for no obvious reason.

I renewed my eldest daughters passport earlier today and I was happy that they accepted the first photo that I uploaded. It is good that you can do it all online now I reckon, instead of having to faff about in photo booths like the old days!

My sister renewed her passport a few weeks ago. She did her photo in a booth and got a code which she entered into her application - so the booths are online as well!

There's a certain amount of leeway with baby passport photos. We took ours with our daughter lying in her cot (tick for plain background), at a jaunty angle and it was processed fine despite her looking like a smiling potato.

Sounds simple enough, no resizing etc just attached to the application.
