Just about every dynamic car chase and moving vehicle shot is made better by the gyro-stabilised Russian Arm usually mounted on a high performance 4x4, although they can be mounted on boats too. It's revolutionised the industry. A relative of mine is an advert director, and informs me that the term 'Russian Arm' has now been banned by the industry. Feast your eyes on... the Kyiv-made U-Arm.

The piece of equipment was actually named the 'Autorobot' by it's inventors, primarily a Soviet-Ukrainian filmmaker in the late 90s (they won two Oscars for the invention), but the [largely American] industry began to refer to it as the 'Russian Arm' because everything from that part of Europe is Russian, right?

If it was truly Russian though, it would be rusty and the servos on the gimbals would have been sold for cash.

If that's what the manufacturer wants to rename their product, who's to stop them?
