I'm going on a short-notice European road trip this weekend, and every time I've done one, I've wished I had some footage to remember the best bits with. I do have a dashcam, but I'd like something that doesn't split the footage into 3 minute chunks and overlay data, plus I'd like more flexibility with its mounting location. In short I'd like an action camera of some sort.

So yesterday I went on the gopro website and tried to order whatever the latest camera is. But while they claim to ship same day, the estimated delivery seems to be Tuesday or Wednesday next week, which is too late - I'll be gone by then. Apparently they have just released a new camera, so I figured it must be a supply issue. So I selected an older model, which was disappointingly only £50 less and even more disappointingly had the same shipping time. Why can't they do next day shipping like everyone else?

I had a look on Amazon which does offer next day delivery, but there are no bundles (I'd like an extra battery and a suction cup mount) and the prices for the basic camera is about £50 more than the bundle price on gopro's website.

I don't know a lot about action cameras and it's such short notice that I don't have a lot of time to do meticulous research. I figured that if I just buy the leading brand, I'll have the best compatibility and selection of accessories.

Given that I don't particularly care about having the latest camera and that 4K would be nice but not essential, what action camera should I get? My priorities are video quality, reliability and battery endurance. Is there some way I can get a gopro bundle discount without having to wait nearly a week for delivery?

Thanks!

Probably not the right answer, but I occasionally flip my iPhone to landscape on it's windscreen mount - it takes very good quality footage. Easy to use.
