Canon G7X power up error

Canon G7X compact camera, throwing a 'replace battery pack' message on trying to power up. It's only 8 months old so going back under guarantee, but I wondered if anyone here has experience of what it might be?

Shouldn't be a dead battery after only 8 months surely?

Never heard of any generic issues with the battery.
It is definitely not normal and even more so after 8 months.
They are a good little camera.

Tks. Yes it's been a good experience so far, very capable little camera, and surprisingly good in low light.

Gets a bit warm shooting 4k video though!

Hopefully it will get sorted quickly. Going back to Canon under guarantee but will take 3 wks
