Recommend a pattern generator please

I need to generate a bunch of black/white (possibly colour) patterns to project onto a model's face.
Ideas are soft focus dots, vertical lines etc. It's all been done before.
Haven't been able to find a generator that does exactly what I need yet so any recommendations would be helpful.
Yes I know I could create something in Photoshop but I like the idea of seeding something and seeing what comes out of it.
