Fujifilm X100V
Discussion
Hey folks.
Has anyone had hands on experience with the X100V camera?
I mainly take street photography these days and whilst the Fujifilm X-T30 I have today is amazing (really very good), I find that for the photos that I take, I could just simplify. I’m growing tired of swapping out lenses and lugging them about.
The X100V is a fixed lens camera, so fits this bill nicely. It appears to have amazing reviews too.
Also any alternatives I should be thinking about?
Cheers

I had one (X100S actually) but didn't get on with it. I liked it a lot in theory, image quality was nice and it was beautifully built, but to actually use I found it a bit clunky. I've since got a cheapo EOS M100 and a 22mm lens (which I never remove) which is about the same size as the X100 and as a simple carry about camera I am very happy with it.

I'm currently looking at the X100V as an upgrade to my X100T.
Big fan of the weather sealing and bump in MP.
I've always liked the 100 series for being simple to mooch around with.
I jumped from the T to the V and was very please I did. Between the weather sealing, the 2 generation jump in sensor and improved lens I'm very happy. The V also feels a lot more expensive in the hand, which is a good thing since it was!Big fan of the weather sealing and bump in MP.

I think I've now convinced myself to keep my T and instead get an XPro-3 as well..Oops.

I wouldn't get too hung up about teh weather sealing unless you wnat to us ethe camera in pouring rain. I Have possibly the most beaten up X100F in the country having a habit of falling over! But the camera still works fine, it has survived:-Big fan of the weather sealing and bump in MP.

1) Tripping up in Birmingahm resulting in a hard impact on teh base of teh camear on the pavement
2) Sliiping on mud near Corris Mid Wales, and burying the camera half in wet mud
3) Generally using teh camera in drizzle/mist/fog conditions
4) Stumbling in Dinorwic Quarry (Llanberis), resultinging in a very hard impact on the lens hood (bending the original Fuji Metal lens hood) and breaking my ankle!
They are pretty tough
For me the only reason to upgrade to a V would be the extra sharpness of the lens and the tiltable rear screen. But since I'm obviously 'Mr Clumsy' I'll stick with my beaten F
I've used DS Colour Labs a few times and I haven't been disappointed yet, even with large prints.

I have a Fujifilm X100F. It’s my one and only camera after having been through several over the years including chunky DSLR’s down to the now discontinued pocket Panasonic LUMIX GM1 (which was fantastic coupled to a small Leica lens).
The best camera is the one you enjoy using and carrying around. The Fujifilm fits my needs perfectly, the viewfinder is amazing, JPEGs and RAW are great, plus street low-light conditions are good too.

I had the original X100, and used it a lot for street photography. I absolutely adored it.
I had some days where, inspired by the fixed focal length, I just locked everything! f/8, 1/125s, ISO400 (or to suit the weather) and just shoot! Liberating stuff, and possibly the most fun I've ever had with a camera. It helps too that it was discrete, gorgeous and tactile.
I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with a X100V. If you're even considering it, knowing the obvious limitations of it, then I think you'll love it.

Reviews seem a little down on it's autofocus, any users find that?
Any other user tips, as I've got a loan one for this weekend to see what the fuss is about.
Hey!
Yes I’d been meaning to update.
I purchased this about 2 weeks ago. Still finding my feet with it, and haven’t used it in anger yet but enjoying it so far.
I’m really into street photography, and this is a perfect companion. Nice and small, no gear to lug around and it’s great shooting from the hip with. Having a fixed lens has made me more creative with shots and I just find the whole process more refreshing.
I’m following a few people on you tube who regularly showcase their work with the camera and it’s very impressive. I have a few city trips coming up in March with work so I’m really looking forward to getting out and exploring in my spare time. I’ll be sure to share my snaps!
Enjoy, hope the trial goes well. I can’t say I’ve noticed focus issues on my kind of photography as long as it’s setup right.

I'm hoping to get one later in the year, as I mostly use my X-T2 with the 23f2 lens. I have booked a free loan of one from Fuji over the Easter weekend (so I can get a 4 day loan, rather than 2 days), so will report back.
All I can add is that the test went well, and I bought one - it is a bloody brilliant camera.Gassing Station | Photography & Video | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
