Tripod Recommendation Please
Discussion
All, my old 1970's Suiss aluminium tripod is a bit clunky, and since I've started astrophotography with a tracker, I'm looking for something a bit more up to date.
Once rigidly fixed to the tripod head, the tracker needs polar aligning, and it's a nightmare without some kind of fine adjustment on altitude and azimuth (or at the very least I need something that isn't jerky to move, and locks without shifting the position in any way). This is my current setup; I 3D printed a bullseye level table to ensure the central column is at least vertical:
With camera - initial setup is done with a small scope fitted into the white 3D printed sleeve:
Can anyone recommend one, budget up to about £200? I think you can get fine adjustment heads for tripods, which might be an option, but I don't want too many things stacked on top of another - I've already got the tracker (on a swiss mount), a ball head on the tracker (with a swiss mount) and then the camera on the ball head.
Thanks.
