Hi all

So as my YouTube channel has actually started making a few quid I want to reinvest the money into some better equipment. So we buy, sell and fix old military vehicles and anything else big and interesting. This means we do some action stuff of us playing with the vehicles when we buy them or get them running, and also some more in-depth repair stuff and low light stuff inside the tanks. Currently use a go pro and iPhones. The big complaint we get from the audience is the sound quality so upgrading to something with an external microphone is a big must. Looking at various DSLR's but getting a little bit lost! Budget of around a grand give or take.

Cheers!

Is it an old GoPro?

I only ask as this guy has built a massive channel with just a GoPro.

Also, what about using the cameras you have and an audio recorder?

The Sony ZV1 gets a lot of good reviews on YouTube, without having to get into the world of mirrorless cameras or DSLRs where lens choice is as important (and expensive) as the main body itself.

The ZV1 also has one of the best autofocus speeds I've ever seen. Check out "Potatojet" YouTube channel for his review - a likeable chap with a lot of enthusiasm for vlogging and video conferencing hardware.

If you get serious, you probably need a mixture of something like the ZV1 for talking to the camera, a GoPro for shots where you strap a camera to a car (or some other hazardous - to the camera - location), and a drone. A 360 camera might complete your line-up.

Another gadget would be some stabilising gumball - either for the main camera, the GoPro, or a dedicated stabilising camera like the DJI pocket 2 (Tech Moan YouTube channel reviewed a "knock-off" version of this recently).
