Top 5 from 2020.
Discussion
Firstly, Happy New Year to all.
I couldn't see a post anywhere with the annual top 5 so thought I would start one from what has been a rather tough year photo wise.
For me, my normal photography is mountain bike racing and with only attending 3 races all year and all in the UK, as opposed to normally 20 plus from all round the world, it's been slim pickings!
But still managed to get a few so here we go and hopefully you guys will follow with the usual jaw dropping images.
1. The future of MTB! This 10 yr old (yes 10!) was incredible to watch and shoot and features twice here!

2. The first of my very sporty children!

3. My youngest lad.

4. My lockdown purchase!

5. And 10 yr old Harry again. Still finding dust and stones in places months on....!

I have nothing to add but wanted to acknowledge your efforts. Fantastic!
Likewise - excellent shots.I also have little to add given few opportunities to go out.
The best I have are a few from a cricket match in September:

Those shots of Harry are fantastic, Nessie.
When I looked back I was quite surprised how much variety I'd managed to capture last year.
Brighton's west pier, certainly in its sunset years, it can't survive many more storms.

Glad I had the opportunity to visit Bruntingthorpe on a cold and windy day for a Buccaneer shoot and capture the Victor while I was there. Although I didn't know at the time It may have been the last opportunity.

Then like most of us photography was restricted to the garden, fortunately I do a lot of my photography there anyway.

When the world started opening up again; I'm a sucker for Acers in Autumn.

And finally another wet and windy airfield, Duxford this time, fortunately the overcast day gave a nice soft light on this Curtiss Hawk

Well done Gents on some great shots and Happy New Year to you too
I've not done anything too amazing myself this year (largely due to inertia if I am honest but partly bcause of lockdowns) - here's what I have anyway
1. Was chuffed wih this as my first decent shot of a Treecreeper

2. Long range shot of the bridges from Cramond (ie home)

3. Another first for me - never seen one of these before!

4. Our one trip away this year was to Torridon - as always it delivered

5. Possibly my favorite shot of the year - just loved the pose, the light, the bokeh... basically everything

perspective (or just my eyesight) does weird things sometimes. Almost looks like the horse is jumping this side of the tree trunk rather than over it! A bit like me attempting to do the hurdles - far easier to run round them ;-)C n C said:
Being a cricketer myself, I love the batsman's expression in this - wondering what just happened! My money is being done by the spin.Great thread! I have a top five for 2020 waiting in the portfolio folder to mature a while longer

I actually found 2020 good photographically, lockdowns and tier systems meant that I spent much more time in my local neighborhood and found many more photo opportunities than I could initially imagine. I also got back into film, with both MF and 35mm cameras, another process to (re)master and one that I'm really looking forward to in 2021.
I'm only going to post one image here, this one means a lot to me (and its now printed on A2 and hanging in our hall). Two hours after taking this shot, I was lying on a pile of slate with a broken ankle, an hour later I was being winched into a helicopter, a very eventful day, and 1) I'm pleased that it was only a broken ankle 2) my X100F survived despite being in my hand and taking a beating on the slate, 3) I managed to get a shot I like from the day and most importantly, 4) I really blessed to have some great friends and Nige who was with me was literally a life saver and certainly prevented more damage to my ankle (which incidently I broke in 3 places). Fortunately its healed well and a full recovery has been made, though mentally I can still be very challenged with it!

What a strange year that was! Less light painting from me this year as it's been difficult to get friends together to do it, much more landscape photography and, for me at least, to a higher standard than previous years. I had to slip a drone shot in there as it's currently my favourite camera!
