Looking for some assistancd as it's a while since I last was into cameras.

My wife is looking for something to capture family moments, landscapes and the odd bit of wildlife on. She was using a Panasonic Lumix Tz series which has unfortunately bitten the dust after a drop.

We are looking for its replacement and she said she wants something of a better quality where she can experiment. She doesn't want a DSLR as she doesn't want the weight nor the interchangeable lenses.

I was myself using a Canon 40d with all the kit a few years back so have an idea of what she wants but I may be missing something obvious.

I've suggested a Lumix FZ1000mkii looking at the reviews, the fact it'll be a familiar menu format and it being a bridge camera with a wide focal length. It's £729 at the minute on Park Cameras.

Does anyone have any experience of this camera or faced a similar set of requirements when making their choice?

Olympus are doing the EM10 Mk3 with pancake lens, and a free 30mm macro lens and free 64gb card for £449. It’s a pretty decent set up to start with you can pick and choose your lens as you go on.

It's £699 at Clifton Cameras, maybe worth noting it is pre-order with both Park and Clifton ....

Have you actually seen an FZ1000 in the "flesh"?

Like the Sony equivalent the RX10 they are not small by any stretch of the imagination, compared to a Panny TZ30 for example:

and to a Canon 40d:

Even though a "DSLR" was not wanted, the suggestion by djsmith74 the Olympus EM3 M10 is considerably smaller and lighter (even taking into account separate lenses):

That twin lens kit for £449 is a bit of a steal.
