September 2020 Photo Competition - "The Best of Humanity"
Discussion
After all the doom and gloom of this year, let's have an uplifting thread.
Pictures should show the best of humanity and can cover the start of life through to the end.
Basically, what it means to be human in a positive way.
People interacting with others, care workers doing what they do best, acts of kindness, etc etc..
Let's see what you have got
This is my little one at two weeks old.

Rules:
The photos taken must be your own work and can be taken at anytime, but please only get out with your gear if you have safe opportunity etc.
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
You can only submit one, and only one photo.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.
Entries and discussion on this single thread please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Photos entered can be as large as you like, although bear in mind if too large, it may not be possible to see the whole image on some screens. Links to larger versions are permissible.

Well, here is my entry "Humanity of Keyworkers"
Whilst we went through Lockdown I went out with my camera, to try and gauge the "new normal" for key-workers.
Came across an empty local bus, and yes with no passengers...
This was the bus drivers "new normal" driving an empty bus!
Things have moved on a little now with more people out and about, but was quite a startling thing in the middle of my town, and empty bus with just the driver.
He was happy for me to take his portrait.

Wow, halfway thru' the month and still no entries.
Have to admit it's not the sort of thing I usually want to shoot - it's an excellent topic choice, though - and I would struggle to know where to begin.
...which is a bit sad, really. Sorry.
I have sat here, every day, thinking of all the photos I've taken and of all the photos I could take, and I have not got one example of the subject matter. Like you, where do you begin? Have to admit it's not the sort of thing I usually want to shoot - it's an excellent topic choice, though - and I would struggle to know where to begin.
...which is a bit sad, really. Sorry.
Which is a sad reflection of either my life, or the society around me.

To be fair, I think "unpopular" is probably too harsh a word; personally challenging and emotionally difficult are more appropriate descriptions. It's an entirely valid and worthy choice of topic, and (as a sweeping generalisation on behalf of the rest of PH ) I suspect most of us would like to be able to submit pictures, but capturing the essence of humanity and doing it well, requires a skill above most of us. That is the mark of a very good photographer.

I haven't been going out much at all in recent months, so have tried to find something taken previously.
I took this one when going out specifically for a previous (photojournalism) PH competition to get some photos of the Extinction Rebellion protests in London - April 2019.
I believe this is a daughter with her Dad at the protest together, and really liked the connection as she's looking at him. The shallow depth of field was intentional to focus on his features.

Well, this months topic turned out to be a challenge
Good effort for everyone who entered.
Two are stand out for me,
DailyHack's entry captures this moment in time very well and shows people willing to risk all and head to work even if they are not needed.
And the winner, C n C It shows a fantastic bond between two people who are together in the hope they can change the way of the world.
